Motel worker in critical condition after Harrisonburg incident
A Martinsville man is in custody after an incident early Saturday morning at a Harrisonburg motel that sent an employee to UVA with serious injuries.
Officers from the Harrisonburg Police Department responded to the Super 8 Motel at 3330 S. Main St. at 5:05 am with ongoing disorderly conduct. Several callers from the motel reported a disturbance involving a man on the third floor.
Another caller said a woman was assaulted and was found unconscious with serious injuries.
HPD officers responded and first met the male suspect identified as Eris Rubi Castillo, 27, of Martinsville. Castillo was extremely combative with the officers and was eventually taken into custody after a successful deployment of Taser by the responding officers.
After Castillo was arrested, officers were able to go to the third floor and locate the victim, identified as an employee of the motel.
The victim was immediately transported to the University of Virginia Medical Center, where she is listed as being in critical condition.
The HPD Major Crimes Unit has responded and is currently investigating this incident. Charges against Castillo are pending.
